Ioana Ciolacu is pleased to reveal the new Spring Summer 2018 collection, celebrating the season with Ioana’s signature style. Drawing its inspiration from the personal style and work of the iconic, yet uncelebrated women of Bauhaus, the collection embraces a sense of individuality and power, through fresh silhouettes, unexpected layering play and reinterpreted Bauhaus graphics.

Emphasised proportions are interrupted by delicate classic cuts. Disrupted proportions are emphasised by unexpected contrasting texture layering. Soft hues enhance the rich colour panels in controlled construction. Fabric use is focused on fluid, texturised and graphic plays with sustainable recycled silk and wool, shred like summer knits and precious metallic knits. Deconstructed sweatshirts bring a contemporary take to the collection with ballon sleeves and asymmetrical construction, switching the nostalgic and minimalistic 20’s to present days. Form play depends on shadows and lights with reinvented pleated work that hints from tailored numbers. Evening and cocktail dresses add to the feminine side with a twist of playfulness.

The women who studied and then worked on Bauhaus, such as Anni Albers and her iconic rugs, Marianne Brandt object designs or Gertrud Arndt style, all has been a major inspiration onto the prints and silhouettes, aiming to celebrate their art and personal style.
